The Great Features of KDE Workspaces and Applications - Interlude

Many of you have been asking for my color theme and my widget style that I'm using in the blogseries, so I finally decided to upload it :)

The style itself is the nice shiny Oxygen, the default widget style that ships with KDE Workspaces. I just tuned the scrollbars a little and you can do that too - just open System Settings, go to 'Application Appearance', select 'Style' and right next to the widget style combobox is 'Configure...' button. Open that, switch to 'Scrollbars' tab and tweak it to your liking. I use 10px width and no top and bottom arrow buttons. All the rest is default.

The color scheme is taken from another great widget style, which I'm a big fan of - Bespin. I was using Bespin sometime ago with this color scheme, then due to some binary incompatible updates it stopped working and it switched back to Oxygen. However the color scheme stayed the same and as it looked good, I left it like that. I don't remember if I did any changes to it (except saving it as 'DarkViews'), nevertheless all credits go to the Bespin authors. If you haven't tried or even never heard of Bespin, definitely give it a try (I suggest to always use the latest svn version, more info at Bespin's SourceForge page).

Be warned: this color scheme exposes occasional bugs in color palette some applications uses (for example see the 4th Gwenview screenshot, the middle toolbar's Description text input (the one below 'Tags') actually has a text in it, which can't be seen, because it uses wrong color). Please do report any such bugs for KDE applications at bugs.kde.org (the one for Gwenview is here) and provide as much info as you can and for bonus points also include a screenshot.

The rest of my desktop is default Kubuntu 11.10 with Project Neon on top. Neon provides daily builds of KDE's master repositories, it's great for development when you want/need code from master, but don't want to recompile everything all the time, you can find more info on Techbase. The font is also the default one, called Ubuntu and you can download the font here. Also note that there is Oxygen font in the works, see screenshots and links on Webupd8's article.

Some people also ask about the licence of my posts. There actually isn't one. I'm happy if you use the articles anyway you want, just keep me as an original author (if there's a CC licence like this, let me know, I may put that licence on it so it's clear). That license forbids commercial uses and requires it be distributed under the same license. This one only requires attribution, it can be used for any purpose:
